Tory Lanez Stabbed 14 Times in Prison Attack — Rapper Recovering After Collapsed Lungs
Rapper Tory Lanez is recovering after being stabbed 14 times in a shocking prison yard attack while serving a 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.
The 32-year-old Canadian artist, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was ambushed Monday morning at California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi. According to a statement on his official Instagram, Lanez sustained seven stab wounds to his back, four to his torso, two to the back of his head, and one to the left side of his face. Both of his lungs reportedly collapsed during the attack.

Hospitalized with Life-Threatening Injuries
Sources close to the investigation told Sky News and TMZ that prison staff rushed to the scene and immediately began administering first aid before Lanez was transported by ambulance to a hospital in nearby Bakersfield.
“Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through,” his Instagram statement said Monday night. “He is now breathing on his own.”
Prison authorities and the Kern County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the motive behind the attack. As of now, no suspect has been publicly identified.
Ongoing Legal Battles with Megan Thee Stallion
Lanez is currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, in both feet during an argument in July 2020. The incident occurred after a party at Kylie Jenner’s Hollywood Hills home.
In 2022, a jury found Lanez guilty of three felony counts: assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
In 2023, Megan was granted a restraining order against Lanez until 2030. Her attorneys alleged the rapper had continued to harass her from prison by using social media surrogates and bloggers to spread false and damaging narratives.

Lanez Planned a Comeback Before the Attack
Just one week prior to the stabbing, Lanez posted a photo of himself behind bars looking noticeably fit and optimistic. He teased a new prison-recorded album titled "Peterson," which reportedly uses AI-generated vocal support to complete some verses.
Despite the circumstances, the project managed to chart on Billboard, peaking at No. 25 — a rare feat for an incarcerated artist.
Parole Eligibility and Outlook
Tory Lanez is eligible for parole in 2029, though this latest incident could have implications on his behavior record and release timeline.
For now, fans and critics alike are watching closely as the rapper recovers from what could have been a fatal ambush.
“This isn’t how Tory wants to get out of prison,” a source told TMZ, “but he’s lucky to be alive.”
