Gwen Stefani Slammed After Wango Tango Set — But Her Fans and New Music Say Otherwise
Gwen Stefani’s still got it — but not everyone seems to agree.
The 55-year-old pop legend lit up the stage at KIIS FM’s Wango Tango in Huntington Beach, bringing back her 2004 classic Hollaback Girl to a roaring crowd. But while the crowd was loud, the internet? Mixed.
“She looks tired,” one user commented.
“It’s giving Katy Perry Lifetimes tour energy,” another chimed in.
Others didn’t hold back, calling the set outdated and questioning why Stefani isn’t making “more grown-up songs” at this point in her career. Ouch.

Faith, Fashion, and Firestorms
Of course, Gwen’s no stranger to controversy. She’s been under fire lately — not just for her performances, but for her very public embrace of her Catholic faith.
Earlier this year, she promoted the Hallow prayer app, and even retweeted an interview between Tucker Carlson and The Chosen’s Jonathan Roumie, which rubbed plenty of fans the wrong way.
“Miss the old Gwen,” one person posted.
“She’s embarrassing now,” said another.
Someone just dropped a simple: “Don’t speak.”
Still, Gwen didn’t flinch, tweeting:
“Wow @JonathanRoumie you are a powerful inspirational human... thank you for being you.”
The Bouquet Era Is Blooming Anyway
Backlash or not, Stefani’s been busy putting out new music. Her fifth studio album, Bouquet, dropped late last year, blending '70s-inspired pop-rock with personal lyrics and polished melodies.
In March 2025, she released a deluxe edition featuring stripped-back acoustic versions and one brand-new track, Still Gonna Love You, a soulful collab with Finneas that’s already a fan favorite.
“It’s her most honest work since Love. Angel. Music. Baby.,” one fan wrote.
“Bouquet is underrated. Period,” said another.
The deluxe vinyl release even sold out in under 48 hours — fans clearly still showin’ up, even if critics don’t always see it.

Fans Show Up Loud and Proud
Despite all the noise, Gwen’s fanbase isn’t going anywhere.
“She is looking gorgeous and sounding great at 55!!”
“Still that girl.”
“Legend. Icon. And Bouquet is a masterpiece.”
A few even praised her sticking to her values — faith, fashion, music — in a pop landscape that doesn’t always welcome women aging on their own terms.
Gwen's Not Going Quietly — and Why Should She?
At 55, Gwen’s not trying to be anyone else. She’s onstage, in the studio, and fully herself, even when that invites criticism. Between Bouquet, her festival sets, and her unapologetic voice — she’s doing what artists are supposed to do: evolve.
She’s still working, still controversial, still glittery. And still Gwen.
