Halle Bailey Accuses Ex DDG of Abuse, Granted Restraining Order to Protect Herself and Son.
Halle Bailey, the Grammy-nominated singer and star of The Little Mermaid, has been granted a temporary restraining order against her ex-boyfriend and the father of her child, rapper and YouTuber DDG (Darryl Dwayne Granberry), after filing court documents accusing him of physical and verbal abuse.
In emotional statements submitted to the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Bailey, 25, wrote:
“I realize that there is no placating Darryl. I cannot allow this abuse any longer.”
Halle Bailey, 25, known for her role in The Little Mermaid, outlined multiple incidents of alleged abuse involving her ex-partner, DDG (Darryl Dwayne Granberry), 27.
💔 Allegations of Abuse and Intimidation
The court filing, obtained by PEOPLE and first reported by TMZ, outlines a pattern of alleged behavior dating back to January 2025. Bailey accuses DDG of:
Verbally abusing her in front of their infant son, Halo Saint Granberry, born in December 2023
Weaponizing his large online following against her
Attempting to forcibly remove their son from her home
Causing physical injury, including a bruised bicep and a chipped front tooth
Bailey claims DDG called her degrading names such as “a bitch” and “evil,” sometimes in the presence of Halo. She also alleges he livestreamed rants about her, inciting his fans to believe she was withholding their child—leading to online threats and the hashtag #FreeHalo trending on social media.
“He seems to try to set up drama for his fans,” Bailey stated. “He goes live ranting about me... then I receive threats and hate online. I’m scared for my life and Halo’s safety.”

📸 Evidence and Legal Action
Bailey included photographic evidence of her injuries, including visible bruising and dental damage. She also filed a police report in March, alleging that DDG entered her home uninvited and screamed profanities after she informed him their son was sick with RSV and could not be moved.
According to court documents, DDG allegedly damaged Bailey’s Ring security camera during the confrontation and tried to take Halo without consent.
Bailey also submitted screenshots of text messages, including one she sent on Mother’s Day while vacationing in St. Lucia with her sister, singer Chloe Bailey:
“Darryl, are you not tired of harassing me? You make up a new lie every day… I’m in St. Lucia with Shermay and Chloe. Not with any man. I have Halo with me. Please let me enjoy my Mother’s Day in peace.”
🛑 Court’s Temporary Order
The judge granted a temporary restraining order requiring DDG to remain at least 100 yards away from Halle, their son, and her vehicle—including at Halo’s school and Bailey’s work locations.
Bailey also requested that:
DDG be barred from posting or streaming about her or Halo on YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, Instagram, or X
He be ordered to attend and complete a 52-week Batterer Intervention Program
She retain custody of Halo during her upcoming two-month filming schedule in Italy, beginning June 7
“I have family and a nanny who will be traveling with me to care for Halo while I’m working,” Bailey told the court.
🔍 What Comes Next
A formal court hearing is scheduled for June 4, where the judge will determine whether to extend the restraining order and rule on Bailey’s request for full custody during her time abroad.
As of now, representatives for DDG have not commented publicly. PEOPLE confirmed they reached out to both parties for official responses.
🧠 Social Media, Celebrity, and Safety
The case spotlights a growing concern in modern domestic abuse cases—how social media weaponization can escalate private disputes into dangerous public battles. Bailey’s claims suggest DDG’s millions of followers have played an unintended role in amplifying threats and harassment.
Her legal filing states:
“I feel afraid and victimized. His fans then threaten me.”
In an era where fan communities can turn toxic, especially when influencers use their platforms during personal disputes, the court’s decision to limit DDG’s digital commentary marks a significant precedent.
In the middle of legal challenges and career milestones, Halle Bailey is also making headlines for something refreshingly real: loving her postpartum body.
The Little Mermaid star, 25, recently posted vacation photos rocking a swimsuit and confidently captioned them, “Mom Bod.” But she didn’t stop there. On Snapchat, Bailey opened up about the mental and physical shifts since giving birth to her son, Halo, in December 2023.
“Right now, I am a little bit thicker than I usually am,” she told fans. “All my life, I’ve been really skinny. Then I had my baby.”
Bailey admitted the pressure to “snap back” post-birth took a toll — emotionally and physically — but said she’s done hiding or apologizing for her body.
“This is my first time really taking a break,” she added, referring to a recent trip with her sister Chloe Bailey. “And honestly, I deserve it.”
